• Design a personal layout and structure for the résumé
• List name, address and phone number
• State a specific career objective according to desired career pathway at school
• List educational and training information; Provide GPA if currently enrolled in school, include areas of study 
• List any employment-related certifications or licenses 
• Identify and list school projects/class work related to technical class
• Bulleted list of computer skills, people skills, work skills 
• List work experience beginning with present employment and/or odd jobs
• Outline specific job responsibilities and transferable skills gained, in a bulleted format for each work experience (odd jobs & employment)
• List organizational memberships, major accomplishments and awards earned
• List volunteer service: company/organization, number of hours, responsiblity

Employment Applications

- Follow the instructions. Read each section carefully before completing it.
- Use a blue or black ink pen.
- Take your time, and avoid crossouts.
- Be accurate. Do not guess at an answer.
- Fill in every blank.  Use N/A (not applicable) or a short dash when something does not apply to you.
- Be honest. Being dishonest could lead to dismissal from a job. Don't include negative information.
- Write (PRINT) clearly and neatly. You can make only one impression, so let it be positive!
- Emphasize your skills and accomplishments. Find a place to mention your strengths even if the application does not ask for them -- comment section.
- If you are short on paid work experience, mention your volunteer work and related hobbies under the Former Employers section.
- Get permission before using a person as a reference.
- Sign and date the application, if requested.
