3D Visualization & Animation 2024
Have an interaction between two Characters.
One character organic (Animal, person, stuffed creature ect...)
The other character is going an object that is completely rigid (non-organic), you can’t bend it in any way that would be non-realistic. An example of this would be “Luxo Pixar Lamp” which only moves on its hinges.
The goal of this is to give the illusion of life in two characters, one that would regularly have life and one that wouldn’t. I’d stray away from any objects that are typically associated with life (robots, action figures, Legos figures, ect..) be creative and think outside of the box, how can you give an object life and character as if it were living.
The interaction between the two characters is completely up to you.
The animation should have a minimum of 15 seconds, with a max of 30 seconds, 3 High quality Still frames should be rendered to show off lighting and materials. Rendering the full animation is not a requirement for this project. Some examples of rigid characters are attached.
Be creative. Students will be graded on complexity of design and likeability. Animation will be judged by lifelikeness and believability. Try your best to utilize the 12 animation principles. CLICK HERE
You will create:
- A character concept sheet (Profile & front view)
- A Storyboard showing the basic character designs and the story of their first interaction.
- 3 HQ renders
- A final render (Does not have to be final render quality as you will probably run out of time) but must show final animation and texturing.
NOTES:
- 2 characters, one lifelike and one rigid.
- Animation must be 15 to 30 seconds.
- Video must be at least 720p.
- Extra credit for music and sfx which add to the story
- A 3d background and at least one 3d asset that interacts with the characters.
Upload your storyboard, character concept mockups, final render + High Quality frame renders to Google Drive Folder and submit link here.
