MTCHS Tech Fair Advertising Design 2024 Competition

Company Description: Cottonwood Creek is a medical group practice in Eagle, Idaho, specializing in dental service.
You will create a new brand identity that matches the current professional Cottonwood Creek aesthetic, making it more modern and appealing to all demographics.
Task List: You will create:
A basic logo design.
A new landing page mockup for their website.
1 billboard mockup showcasing the branding in action.
1 social media ad
A breakdown of each component is below. Remember to pace yourself. Each item above is worth 50 points for a total of 200 points. Try your best to recycle portions of your design to each item so you can finish all four in time.
Part 1: Logo Design
For your official logo redesign, you should focus on the key elements of what makes a good logo, which may include key identifiers, color psychology, balancing, and appropriateness about the company’s target market.
Below are the specifications you will adhere to when presenting your final logo design:
Your final logo design must be a separate icon from the text “Cottonwood Creek Dental.” Your icon may look however you like, but it cannot simply be the company’s name.
Use at least one main color besides black or white for your main logo.
Use at most 3 main colors besides black or white for your main logo.
Make sure to list the hex codes of all your colors on the final document in both RGB and CMYK mode.
How to format your Part 1 entry is shown in detail below (read EVERY step before starting!)
The paper’s dimensions should be 8.5 x 11in. Title it “Logo Design” in Arial, 12 pt font at the top.
You will have two main logo versions for the final entry, including the basic logo icon and another with “Cottonwood Creek Dental” somewhere next to the same logo icon. An example is on the back of this page.
Your logo + logotype will have 3 versions presented: The first being fully colored, the second only using one color besides black or white, and the final being only black and white.
Finally, list all colors’ RGB and CMYK hex codes on the page.
Your final formatted entry of Part 1 should look something like this:
Part 2: Website Landing Page
The landing page for the new website should be straightforward and give customers a good first impression to increase the amount of time spent on the website per viewer. A clear and concise landing page can mean the difference between getting new customers to purchase your products/services. Your job is to map the company’s new website landing page in Adobe Illustrator or XD. ***NOTE you do not need to prototype.
Below are the specifications you will adhere to when presenting your final website landing page mockup (read EVERY step before starting!)
Your artboard should be 1920 x 1080px, 72ppi, and RGB.
Insert the logotype (The logo with the company name next to it) anywhere at the top left of the site.

Make the company slogan “The smile you want, the dentist you need!” bold and visible, contributing to the main call to action on the page.
List the office location, phone number, and contact somewhere either at the top or the bottom of the page.
Export your final landing page as a PDF and add it to your final document. (This can be done in XD)
Part 3: Billboard Mockup
Cottonwood Creek Dental wants to map an advertisement on a billboard to hopefully capture the attention of residents who may not use social media as much as others. Your job is to create a billboard advertisement in Adobe Illustrator. Then export the billboard and composite in the provided Photoshop Billboard mockup template psd included in the files.
Below are the specifications you will adhere to when presenting your final billboard mockup (read EVERY step before starting!)
Your artboard should be 6.375 x 3.375in, 300ppi and CMYK
The focus of the billboard should be on the slogan, “The smile you want, the dentist you need!” Make sure this slogan is at the forefront of the design.
Incorporate your logotype somewhere on the page.
Export the final design as a PDF and add it to your document.
Part 4: Social Media Advertisement
Social media ads can be very effective at giving first impressions and attractive offers. Posting actively across social media platforms can make your business known to thousands and thousands of potential customers. Your job for this part of the project is to create a social media advertisement directed toward getting viewers interested in Cottonwood Creeks Dental services.
Make sure to keep the advertisement in line with the company’s brand identity design-wise to keep the company’s image professional and consistent.
Below are some guidelines that can help the quality of your final social media ads (read EVERY step before starting!)
Ads should have either your main logo icon or logotype somewhere visible.
Ad must include the company slogan as the main focus.
Ad must include a brilliant smile.
Turn in:
Remember to pace yourself. You have to turn in every part of the prompt to win.
******You must turn in the PDF document & all project files (AI, or PS etc. into moodle) (You can link to a google drive or upload a zipped file)
******You will be printing to PDF the following for the Judges:
Make sure that all designs are on the same PDF document as separate pages
- Redesigned Logo
- Web Landing Page
- Billboard Mockup
- Social Media Ad
Finally, print out all documents from your PDF in color (Available using the Haley Hall Printer) and staple together for the judges.
In order to install the printer for Haley Hall, in a windows file explorer, type \\dragonprint and double click to install the Haley Hall (Toshiba) printer. If the printer is already installed a print dialogue will popup.
Make sure your name is printed on everything you turn in.
